Located atop Nob Hill, The University Club of San Francisco is housed in a historic and architecturally significant Clubhouse, designed by local architects Walter Bliss and William Faville, and built shortly after the 1906 earthquake. The Clubhouse is distinguished in the Nob Hill neighborhood with an Italianate style and by its use of brickwork rather than the stone facades or "gingerbread" styles. This was deemed to be more suitable for a "university club" because it evoked the ideal of the renaissance man to which higher education strived for.
The Member owned Club is a gathering place for those who enjoy fine food, wine, music and engaging conversation in a comfortable and casual, yet elegant setting. With panoramic views of San Francisco’s iconic skyline in the background, you are sure to enjoy your Club visits.
In addition to the excellent cuisine and fine wines, you will be able to partake in other amenities the Club has to offer, including a comprehensive squash program in the Club’s modern Athletic Facility, yoga and indoor golf. Banquet facilities and meeting rooms of every size are available for your personal business functions.
The Club also contains overnight accommodations fitted out with antiques as well as modern amenities. Although The University Club is a private Club, we welcome guests to experience our hospitality. Since the cable cars stop right out front, you will find yourself located in the heart of San Francisco and a quick ride to Fisherman’s Wharf, the financial district, San Francisco International Airport or the Golden Gate Bridge.
